Biography
As a Native new Mexican, Gary Garrett has lived and painted in a state
that has been inspiring artists for many years. For the last twenty of
those years Gary has lived in the south central mountains of New
Mexico where the landscapes and animals he paints are literally right in
his front yard. Over the years he has expressed his love of New Mexico
with paintings of subjects found throughout the state but is best
known for his dynamic portraits of southwestern wildlife and the quiet
moments of time captured in his compelling landscapes.

"Studying animals in the wild is a necessity for anyone who  paints
wildlife, without spending time outdoors you cannot understand the
sounds, smells, colors, and feeling you get from being close to your
subject. It's the same with landscapes, or anything else you paint, if you
haven't been there and haven't seen it, it's just not the same."

Garrett's work was included as a finalist in the 20th Annual Artist
Magazine Competition, he was in the Top 40 traveling exhibition in the
20th Annual Wyoming Conservation Stamp Competition and  has won
awards at other regional and national shows over the years.

Gary's work was one of four artists recently featured in the June issue
of Southwest Art magazine in the Art Values section, Start Your
Collection for under $5000.00
